City set to get tallest ever skyscraper as 22 Bishopsgate is given the green light
The City of London planning committee have granted permission for the City's tallest ever skyscraper at 22 Bishopsgate.
Today's decision is good news for the troubled redevelopment site where the Pinnacle building, dubbed the 'Helter Skelter', has stood half built and abandoned since 2008 when the recession caused work to be halted.
The 62-storey skyscraper is set to be the 'City's first vertical village', mixing 1.3 million sq ft of office space with restaurants and shops.
22 Bishopsgate will eclipse the nearby Heron Tower by over 150 ft and will be the highest free-to-visit public space in the city.
