Special announcement: Commuter proposes inside Waterloo station

Normal service was briefly disrupted on the display board of one of the capital's busiest stations yesterday afternoon - due to a carefully timed marriage proposal.

South West trains agreed to help Waheed propose to his girlfriend Zainab by posting his request as a special announcement.

The couple met just four months ago online, and first arranged to meet under the clock at Waterloo Station - so the station holds a special place in both of their hearts. Instead of the usual weather warnings or delay notices, the message read:

A South West Trains spokesman said they were delighted to help with the unusual request.
