Harry Potter fans warned against theatre ticket resales
Harry Potter fans have been warned not to resell theatre tickets online, after the first batch sold out in hours yesterday morning. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is based on an original JK Rowling story, due to premiere at the Palace Theatre in the West End next summer.
More than 120,000 fans tried to buy tickets for performances between 7 June - 18 September online. The Guardian reports tickets for both parts of the play have since appeared on third-party ticket resale sites for £2,950.
The theatre has since warned theatre-goers who arrive with tickets from third party sites will not be admitted:
The enormous demand has prompted the theatre to release tickets for the second round of dates to people who have registered for priority booking, ahead of the general sale on Friday.
But fans have reacted with outrage after hours spent trying to get tickets led to some technical faults in the booking system.
