Fifty migrant workers crammed into four houses in raid on 'Dickensian slums'
A raid on overcrowded 'slums' has uncovered more than fifty migrant workers living in just four houses.
At one property, 15 Romanian adults and a six-week old baby girl were sharing a two-bedroom terraced house.
The downstairs front room was converted to a dormitory with four beds crammed side-by-side.
In other houses, rooms contained multiple sets of bunk beds.
Another property was deemed to be a potential fire trap because electricty sockets were overloaded with extension cables.
The crackdown was carried out by Barking and Dagenham Council with the support of 11 police officers.
The council is one of two London boroughs which issues licences to private landlords.
