Hackney Council to postpone fox cull amid concerns
Hackney Council have said they will postpone the proposed cull of foxes in one of the borough's biggest parks.
The move comes after animal rights activists and some members of the public condemned the cull as unnecessary and ineffective.
A petition calling for the council to reconsider has attracted more than 4,000 signatures. The RSPCA said the council could use non-lethal deterrent methods to discourage the animals from entering the deer area.
Hackney Council said initially that the cull was necessary to protect deer and humans living around Clissold Park, and they had no plans to extend the cull to areas outside the enclosure
