Police stumble on a 'cannabis forest' in Kingston
This surprising discovery by a local police team brings a whole new meaning to Kingston's reputation as a 'leafy suburb'.
Officers say they were called to reports of a few cannabis plants growing on some disused land on Lower Marsh Lane yesterday morning. But when they arrived, they were surprised to find the plants were actually a small forest - at least 150 were growing, some as tall as five feet.
Officers from Grove Ward Safer Neighbourhoods Team tweeted pictures of themselves buried among the plants with the hashtag #saynotodrugs.
Pictures even show the forest came complete with a gazebo for the green-fingered gardener to sit and observe their creations.
However, anyone hoping to pay a visit to the unusual gardening display will be sorely disappointed - as police say they have launched an investigation and the plants will all be destroyed.
