A woman from Lambeth has admitted to poisoning her 70-year-old husband's Christmas tipple of cherry Lambrini with anti-freeze in an attempt to kill him.

Jacqueline Patrick, 54, pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted murder - once in October 2013 and again on Christmas Day on 2013.

The couple's daughter Katherine Patrick, admitted helping her mother and pleaded guilty to one count of inciting another to administer a noxious substance.

On Boxing Day 2013 Douglas Patrick was taken to Kings College Hospital after collapsing at home. During the journey, his wife showed the paramedics a note, which she claimed was from him, requesting not to be resuscitated.

When hospital tests showed anti-freeze poisoning Jacqueline told doctors he may have drunk a blue liquid by mistake - the hospital, suspicious that she did not volunteer this information immediately, called police.

Mobile phones belonging to the mother and daughter were seized and analysed. The following text messages were recovered:

The women were charged on 9 February 2013.

They have both been bailed ahead of sentencing which will take place on 2 November at Inner London Crown Court.
