Since founding what is undoubtedly one of the countries most recognised charities in converted arches in a deprived corner of south London in 1996, Camila Batmanghelidjh has become one of the most recognisable faces in public life.

Last night the dream which became Kids Company ended when the charity shut it doors and CEO has blamed a string of malicious rumours generated by the Cabinet Office for it's demise.

She says Kids Co was destroyed by sexual allegations which have no foundation and have never been fully explained to her.

A very angry and emotional Camila Batmanghelidjh told me:

Concerns have been raised by the Cabinet Office about the financial management of the charity.

It was alleged part of a £3M grant for restructuring was instead used on staff wages but Ms Batmanghelidjh says the government always knew this would be the case and she has email to prove it.

She added the charity was ruined by "malicious rumours generated by the government".
