Guitarist with the Australian band 5 Seconds of Summer, Michael Clifford, needed hospital treatment after his hair and shirt caught fire during a gig at London's Wembley Arena.

Horrified fans watched as the musician was injured by pyrotechnic displays used during last night's gig.

The band halted the show and the 19-year-old went to hospital for treatment. He later posted a picture on his Instagram feed with the caption "Hello world. im doing ok :) thanks for worrying!"

His band mates Luke Hemmings and Calum Hood tweeted their support after the accident.

Several fans capturing the atmosphere at the gig recorded the moment on their phones.

After the incident, band member Ashton Irwin came on stage to tell the audience they would not be continuing the performance and thanked the crowd.
