Man jailed for raping a woman who fell asleep on a night bus
A man has been jailed for seven years today after he raped a woman who had fallen asleep on a night bus in Hampstead.
The attack happened last October, after the victim had been out drinking with friends in Aldwych. She boarded the N13 bus around 2am and fell asleep. Calderon, who was on the bus at the time, sat down next to the her and within a minute sexually assaulted her by putting his hand down her jeans.
He then took the woman off the bus back to his house in Hampstead where he raped her.
The victim, who is in her thirties, said her first memory of the attack was back at Calderon's house where she unsuccessfully tried to push him off her. She then went home and called the police.
Calderon, who is an Ecuadorian national studying at Kings College London at the time, was found guilty of rape and assault by penetration after a five day trial at the Old Bailey.
