A thug has been jailed for beating his housemate with a metal pole, and covering his victim's pregnant partner with blood.

Dinesh Jaswal struck his victim with the two-and-a-half foot bar just because he made a noise in the bathroom.

Prosecutors argued he then tried to attack the eight months pregnant mum-to-be with the same iron bar, but the jury cleared him of that offence.

Jaswal, of Hayes, west London, was jailed for three years for attacking the 28-year-old man with the weight-lifting pole, leaving him with two deep cuts to his head.

Officers found the victim with his partner, also 28, cowering together covered in blood after locking themselves in their bedroom.

The victim had been watching a film in September last year when he went to the bathroom to get ready for bed. He then heard what he believed was the sound of someone punching a wall and then Jaswal smashed him four times over the head with the pole.

Jaswal then then tried to hit the heavily pregnant woman but the victim managed to push him away before he could make contact with her, the court head.
