Former Tower Hamlets Mayor Lutfur Rahman, who was sacked last week for electoral fraud, has told a rally of his supporters that he's "not broken". He circulated donation slips so that the audience of one thousand plus could help him pay his legal fees.

He announced that the Tower Hamlets First candidate for the upcoming rerun of the mayoral election would be Rabina Khan. In a speech she said Lutfur Rahman has supported her, giving her "the confidence and faith that I could do it as a woman." She insisted she was not Rahman's "puppet".

The mayoral election is due to be rerun on May the 11th.
