Commuters watch in horror as man is 'hit on the head' by Tube train

Commuters who witnessed a man being hit by an underground train this morning are reporting that he was hit on the head in the horrific accident.

British Transport Police has confirmed that a man in his 20's is in a critical, life threatening condition in hospital after the incident.

It happened at Stockwell station on the Northern Line platform just before 9 this morning.

Witnesses say the man had been leaning over the platform to get his bag when he was hit.

Police say they are not treating the incident as suspicious.
