New homes needed across London: Borough by borough breakdown

New figures released by the National Housing Federation - the body representing housing associations across the UK- shows the scale of the shortfall of new homes being built across London.

Last year only 18,750 new homes were built across the whole of greater London - despite their analysis of governments figures showing that 56,400 new homes were needed.

Across the Greater London area, the situation varies borough by borough - Haringey, Harrow, Kingston upon Thames and Richmond upon Thames are the worst offenders - Haringey built only 110 new houses last year, despite needing an estimated 1,761 - a ratio of a paltry 6.2%.

Greenwich and Newham meanwhile last year built more than the government said was needed. 2,530 new homes last year were built in Newham - 1,020 more than government figures said was needed, whilst 1,340 new homes were built in Greenwhich - 420 more than the figures said were needed.
