Woman planning to treat her mum to dinner finds severed rat head in a bag of spinach

A woman planning to treat her mum to a cooked dinner was horrified to find a severed rat head in a bag of frozen spinach.

Terri Powis only discovered the unwanted meat portion when the vegetables were defrosting in her steamer.

The 33-year-old office worker said the rodent's head, wrapped in green leaves, slowly began to emerge.

Ms Powis bought the 98p bag of spinach from her local Asda in High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire to prepare a chicken dinner for her 60-year-old mother.
