Gang steals cash from Tower Of London moat collected for the Royal British Legion

A gang of Romanian thieves stole £350 from the moat around the Tower of London collected for the Royal British Legion.

The men were spotted by staff collecting coins donated by tourists from Traitors' Gate. They tried to run away after a member of the public shouted at them, but were caught shortly afterwards.

Each member of the gang was given a six month conditional discharge and ordered to pay costs of £16. Police have now returned the money to the Tower.
