Tower of London to leave the floodlights on for longer to allow more people to see the poppies

Visitors hoping to see the Tower of London poppies are being urged to stay up late or get up before dawn.

The Tower has decided to leave floodlights switched on until midnight. The lights will be turned back on at 4.30am.

Officials at the historic royal palace are under growing pressure to extend the extraordinary art installation beyond Tuesday.

The display of 888,246 poppies has caught the imagination of the public with an estimated four million visitors flocking to the Tower.

But officials say the blood-red sea of ceramic flowers will be dismantled after Armistice Day.
