Croydon pub landlord fights off would-be burglars with a baseball bat
A pair of would-be burglars got the shock of their lives when they broke into a pub in Selhurst, only to be chased out by the topless landlord weilding a baseball bat.
CCTV of the incident shows brothers John and Michael Ryan breaking into the White Horse pub and smashing up fruit machines with sledgehammers. But they were unprepared for the arrival of landlord Danny Foley, who chased them away wearing just his leggings with his commemorative Celtic FC baseball bat.
40 year old Michael Ryan was jailed for seven years in May for burglaries at a string of pubs across the capital, while his brother John was sentenced to 30 months in jail yesterday.
They were caught after their DNA was found at the pub after the incident in November last year.
