Prudential RideLondon: Road closures & where to watch

Prudential RideLondonis a festival of cycling which takes place over the weekend of Saturday 9 August and Sunday 10 August 2014. Here are the best places to watch, and the roads which will be affected.

Good areas to watch the action along the route and nearest stations include:

  • Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park - Stratford, Central, DLR, Jubilee & National Rail

  • Canary Wharf - Canary Wharf, DLR & Jubilee

  • Tower of London - Tower Hill, Circle & District Piccadilly Circus

  • Piccadilly Circus or Leicester Square, Bakerloo, Piccadilly &Northern

  • Victoria Embankment - Monument, Cannon Street, Mansion House, Blackfriars, Temple & Embankment Circle, District & National Rail

  • Richmond Park - Richmond, District & National Rail

  • Memorial Gardens - Kingston, National Rail

  • Parliament Square or Whitehall - Westminster, Circle, District & Jubilee

  • The Mall - St James's Park, Charing Cross, Piccadilly Circus, Green Park & Hyde Park CornerCircle, District, Bakerloo, Northern, Jubilee, Piccadilly & Victoria

  • Buckingham Palace - St James's Park, Green Park, Hyde Park Corner & VictoriaCircle, District, Jubilee, Piccadilly & Victoria

Saturday 9 August

Road closures in force in Westminster and the City of London from 05:00 until around 18:00, including Southwark and Westminster bridges. All other central London river crossings will remain open.

Impact on traffic will be minimal, and only affect central London.

Sunday 10 August

Road closures will be in place from 05:00 throughout east, central and south west London.

From around 15:00 roads along the route in London will be opened in phases, once the event has passed and it is safe to do so, with all London roads expected to be opened by 20:30.

A number of river crossings will also be closed for some or all of the day, including:

  • Blackwall Tunnel

  • Tower Bridge

  • Southwark Bridge

  • Westminster Bridge

  • Lambeth Bridge

  • Vauxhall Bridge

  • Battersea Bridge

  • Chelsea Bridge

  • Albert Bridge

  • Chiswick Bridge

  • Putney Bridge

  • Kingston Bridge

  • Hampton Court Bridge

The A3 will be open apart from junctions at Tibbet's Cormer (Wandsworth), Coombe Lane (Kingston) and Esher Common which will be closed.

The A205 South Circular will be open, apart from small sections in south west London (Sheen, Mortlake and Putney areas).
