Lioness finds new home at Chessington Zoo
There's a new arrival at Chessington World of Adventures Resort's zoo. Rani the Asiatic Lioness has been moved from Rotterdam Zoo to her new home in Surrey. The two-year-old was chosen to be part of the park's breeding programme. Rani is now settling into her new home after being introduced to her new companion 17-year-old Ashok.
Asiatic Lions are endangered , with only 420 left in the wild. Zoo keepers hope Rani and Ashok will produce cubs in the near future.
Carnivore Supervisor Michael Zurnamer says the lions are settling in well together.
