'London's Best Buskers' arrested for playing outside
A band dubbed 'London's Best Buskers' by Boris Johnson have been arrested for playing outside. The King's Parade, were taken from Leicester Square into a police van last Wednesday after officers told them to stop playing.
The band from Cricklewood was arrested under a law dating back to 1839 which outlaws musicians performing in public spaces "for the purpose of hawking, selling, distributing, or collecting any article whatsoever, or of obtaining money or alms."

Last month, London Mayor Boris Johnson joined the four-piece band to officially launch this year's Gigs busking competition and #BackBusking, a new campaign to support musicians playing in high streets, town centres and other public spaces around the capital.
