London lights switched off for Earth Hour

Lights in homes, famous buildings and world-renowned landmarks across the capital were switched off for an hour last night as part of a global climate change campaign.

Between 8.30pm and 9.30pm local time, Earth Hour saw the lights dimmed in cities and towns around the globe.

In the capital, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace and the Houses of Parliament were among the landmarks plunged into darkness.
