Another town on the banks of the Thames is bracing itself for floods but this time the threat is not only from the river.

The water table around Marlow in Buckinghamshire has risen dramatically in recent days and will struggle to cope with the heavy rain forecast for the next 24 hours.

Some homes in the town and neighbouring Berkshire village of Bisham are already under water.

The combination of a rising water table, swollen River Thames, overflowing drains and more rain all conspire to put the town on flood alert.

Residents of some properties have moved out while others say they will try to stay while they still have heating and power.
