Rail car parking charges increase by up to 10%
Car parking charges at some rail stations have increased by nearly 10% over the last year, way ahead of inflation.
Figures released by the Transport Salaried Staffs' Association show it now costs £1,138 to park each year at Haywards Heath. Unlike rail fares, parking charges are not regulated and often run by private contractors.
Figures also show South West Trains, the biggest commuter firm, has increased its daily rates by 3.8% over the past 12 months.
