Changes to benefits: what Londoners can expect
Major changes are being made to the welfare system from next month, some specifically for Londoners.
On the 15th of April a new benefits cap will come into force for people of working age in the Boroughs of Bromley, Croydon, Enfield and Haringey. It will be extended nationwide by the end of September.
The cap will be set at £500 a week for couples and families and £350 a week for individual adults.
Council tax benefits are also set to be cut, and the so-called bedroom tax also comes into force next month - where the amount of you can claim in housing benefit will be reduced if you have one or more spare rooms.
