Ryanair is warning up to 1000 jobs could go among its staff at Stansted airport because of increased fees at the Essex hub. The budget airline had been hoping to increase the number of flights to and from Stansted from next month, but now says it will in fact cut flights by 9% over the next year. This comes as the airport's new owners - Manchester Airports Group - have pledged to take passengers from Heathrow and Gatwick in a battle of the skies with airlines including Virgin and KLM set to fly out of Stansted. However, it looks like these ambitious plans could be at the expense of the airport's traditional low budget carriers, like Ryanair.
As art projects go, this is a quite a biggy - artist Ross Ashmore has decided to paint pictures of all 267 London Underground stations to help celebrate the tube's 150 year anniversary. All of the works will go on display this summer but the first 210 are about to be exhibited at a pop up gallery in Southgate. But will he get the rest done in time for the summer deadline?!
Former boxing world champion Barry McGuigan has been playing his part in securing the legacy of the London Olympics. Today he joined scores of youngsters in east London as part of a project to introduce young people to sport and exercise - we sent our cameras along to find out more.
A food stall in Borough Market is selling horse burgers today - making a point that they have no beef in them. You can see more here. This has got us talking in the newsroom about what we would and wouldn't eat… which reminded me that on my honeymoon in Kenya, I was served up a platter of all sorts of "Safari-tucker": hippo, zebra, crocodile and ostrich. I must admit, I ate the lot (please don't hate me!)
Plenty of the capital's news will be served up for you at 5:30pm this Saturday evening - hope to see you then.
