What a treat it was to walk into work this morning in thesunshine, not chilled to the bone and not having to totter precariously along an iced pavement.

Unfortunately this morning's sunny start is going to be replaced by wind and rain this afternoon and for the next few days.

By rush hour the rain which is causing flood alerts in the West will be with us in the London area. It should have lost its intensity so we look like avoiding the more severe flood warnings. It will only be a degree or two cooler than yesterday but as the wind picks up and the sun disappears behind the clouds it is going to feel decidedly chillier.

There's more rain around tomorrow as well. Starting wet and windy and then easing off to patches of rain in the afternoon.

That rainy windy outlook looks set to continue for the next week or two.
