Regular viewers of Coronation Street will be aware of a current storyline about the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning, and this has already prompted some people to make sure their boilers are checked and to get carbon monoxide monitors. However, sometimes reality is stranger than fiction and today we are reporting on the news that six members of a family have been treated in hospital for carbon monoxide poisoning after a grandmother brought a barbecue indoors to dry the washing. Her three year old granddaughter was overcome by the deadly gas and collapsed. Three other young children and two adults were also effected at the home in East Ham. All six have now been discharged from hospital.

There was a huge fire overnight at a large empty property in Bayswater which resulted in 25 fire engines from nine of the capital's fire stations being called out to tackle the blaze. No-one was hurt but damage was caused to every floor of the building and nearby residents had to be evacuated. Among them was Tom Parker Bowles, son of The Duchess of Cornwall, who has praised the work of the emergency services. He tweeted: "Raging fire just broken out 2 doors down from us in Palace Court. All of us evacuated. Police, neighbours and fire brigade magnificent."

Football fans don't need me to tell them that it's the third round of the FA Cup today and plenty of London teams are in action, including Premier League sides Chelsea, Tottenham, Fulham, West Ham and QPR. Off the pitch however another battle is underway - that to be the artist behind the FA Cup anthem. The Football Association has chosen a six-strong shortlist of some of the UK's biggest music acts to battle it out to produce the soundtrack to the world's oldest domestic football competition, with the decision in the hands of the British public. Today MOBO-award-winning rapper Lethal Bizzle gets the competition underway by performing at Upton Park before West Ham's clash with Manchester United.

We'll have more on all the above just before 4pm on ITV1 (just before the footy) plus the latest can also be found anytime on this website.
