Petrol station murder in Ilford
A 29-year-old man has been found murdered at a petrol station forecourt in east London.
Detectives are now appealing for witnesses after the stabbing at a Shell petrol station in Ley Street in Ilford/
Police and the London Ambulance Service were called to the petrol station at 3.17am this morning and found the man suffering stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
No-one has been arrested in connection with the stabbing and police said they are open to any motive.
Officers are looking to trace two women who they believe got out of a car at the scene, next to The Bell pub, while the stabbing was taking place.
Police believe they know the identity of the deceased, but are waiting for formal identification and confirmation that next of kin have been informed before releasing his name.
A post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course.
Detectives from the Homicide & Serious Crime Command are investigating. An incident room has opened in Barking, commanded by Detective Chief Inspector John Sandlin.
