A 49-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery in connection with the mugging of a 91-year-old woman in Highgate.

At about 1.30pm on Tuesday 14th August the 91 year-old, named Lynne, was near the junction with Talbot Road N6 when she felt someone pulling at her bag.

She saw someone's hand in her bag and tried to pull away but was pushed, causing her to fall to the ground and bang her head.

A man made off with her purse, which contained her bank card, travel pass and £20 cash.

The woman broke an arm and suffered severe bruising and swelling to her face, neck, shoulder and leg.

She has also required an emergency operation to remove a blood clot from her head.

Earlier police released pictures of the victim's injuries. Lynne, who lives locally, had been to shops in Archway Road and was walking in Church Road N6 just before the attack.

Detectives continue to appeal for witnesses and information.
