Naomi Riches from Harrow became a Paralympic gold medallist today after Britain secured its first victory on the rowing lake at Eton Dorney. However, the 29 year-old who is visually impaired has to wear blackened goggles when she rows which meant she did not realise she had won.

There was disappointment though for the 2008 Paralympic champion Tom Aggar in the single sculls. He had dominated the class for five years but today ended up fourth in his final.
