Search for ITV Local Heroes

Tonight, ITV Newsroomsacross the country are launching the search for our region's most inspirationalcharacters - people who can really be classed Local Heroes.

We're looking fornominations for the ITV Local Hero Award, which will form part of this year's Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards.

We want to hear aboutpeople whose passion and commitment have impacted the neighbourhood and livesof those around them, and who give up their own time to benefit others.

From setting up orrunning charities and community groups to tackling local problems, likeanti-social behaviour or the lack of amenities, we want to honour individualswho are a force for good in their community.

So, with your help,someone from our region will be joining the stars on the red carpet for thePride of Britain event at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London in October.

If you would like tonominate someone for the ITV Local Hero Award, here's how you can do it.

Log onto http://www.itv.com/prideofbritain/ and click through and complete the nomination formonline.

Tell us in no more than500 words why your nominee deserves this award. We'll also need your name, adaytime contact number and an email address for you.

If you areunder 18 please make sure you have your parent or guardian permission beforenominating or if your chosen nominee is under 18 please make sure you ask theirparent or guardian first.

The closing date forapplications is 11.59pm on Friday August 31st 2012.
