The Olympic torch arrives in our region today. It'll start its journey in Southend just before 11 am and travel through Basilson, Grays, Herongate and Brentwood before arriving at Chelmsford at around six thirty tonight.

10.52am Southend-on-Sea

The torch reaches the seaside town of Southend-on-Sea along the A127 Prince Avenue. It'll be welcomed with a performance of 2000 choristers. It then makes its way to the High Street and to the Esplanade Walkway on the seafront. The torch will travel along Pier Hill and Marine Parade before taking in the Western Esplanade. It finishes its journey in the town long Chalkwell Avenue and then the A13 London Road.

1.49pm Hadleigh

The torch begins Friday afternoon by travelling along the A13 in Hadleigh to the Hadleigh Farm Venue and the Hadleigh Farm Mountain Bike Course which is an official Olympic Games venue. There it will be carried on a bike. It leaves Hadleigh via Chapel Lane and back on to the High Street.

3.39pm Basildon

In Basildon the torch travels along the A1235 Cranes Farm Road and on to the A176. Next it goes onto Southernhay and Clayhill Road before finishing on the A176 Nether Mayne.

5.01pm Grays

Travelling through Grays the torch will make its way along the A1013 to the A126 London Road. It finishes in the town on the A1023 Hogg Lane.

5.41pm Herongate

The torch stays on the A128 Brentwood Road as it makes its way through Herongate and then on to Brentwood.

5.58pm Brentwood

In Brentwood the torch travels along the A128 Ingrave Road and then right on to the A1023 Shenfield Road.

6.37pm Chelmsford

The torch finishes Day 49 of its journey in the country's newest city. The torch will reach Hyland House from the A414 Three Mile Hill and then Hyland Lane. An evening celebration will be held in Hylands Park.
