Men jailed for pig abuse

Two former 'slaughter-men' were jailed today after admitting beating pigs with a batton and stubbing out cigarretts on their snouts.

Piotr Andrzjie Wasiuta and Kelly Smith mistreated the animals when they worked for Cheale Meats at Orchard Farm near Brentwood.

What they didn't realise was that an animal rights charity had installed hidden cameras to catch them in the act.

Secret film footage of the two former men abusing pigs was shown at London's Westminster Magistrates' Court.

The public gallery was full of animal rights activists.
