Laura Wright sings for royals
Laura Wright has just sung in front of the Queen and Prince Phillip at Westminster Abbey. She performed a new song written especially for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and her Majesty was quite impressed:
Singing for the Royal family is quite an achievement but it is even more of an achievement if you are 21, and a year ago you were working as a waitress.
Laura was 15 when she won the BBC Radio 2 Chorister of the Year Competition at Westminster Abbey.
This resulted in performances around the country, including her taking the Soloist part in John Rutter’s Requiem at St. Paul’s Cathedral.
At the time she was developing a prodigious reputation as an all round sports person, with what looked like an exciting sporting career ahead. That night in Westminster Abbey changed all that - music was to be her first choice.
Since then Laura has performed at numerous prestigious venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Wembley Arena, Twickenham, Old Trafford, 02 Arena, Royal Festival Hall, Parliament and has performed for Her Majesty The Queen, The Prime Minister and many others.
