Mum urges Justice Minister to back 'Helen's Law'
A mother from Merseyside will meet the Justice Secretary later to push for a new law in memory of her murdered daughter.
22 year old Helen McCourt was abducted and killed by Ian Simms in Billinge near Wigan in 1988.
Simms was convicted in one of the first murder cases ever to use DNA evidence, but the former pub landlord has never revealed where Helen's body is.
Two years ago the Parole board recommended he was moved to an open prison paving the way for his eventual release.
Helen's mother Marie McCourt wants MPs to back 'Helen's Law' to prevent parole for killers who fail to reveal the location of their victims.
Conor McGinn, the MP for St Helens North, urged the Government back in 2016 to adopt 'Helen's Law', saying what her family have had to endure, not knowing where she was buried, was a 'special kind of torture'.
