Man charged over an alleged hostage incident in Oldham
Police have charged a man after an alleged hostage situation in Oldham.
Mark Schofield, 30, of Pemberton Way, Shaw, has been charged with three counts of assault, two counts of possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear or serious violence, and false imprisonment.
Police were called to reports that a man armed with a gun had locked himself in an address on Pemberton Way in Shaw, Oldham, on Tuesday morning.
Officers attended and were negotiating with the man for more than 24-hours before armed police entered the property and safely resolved the hostage situation.
Mr Schofield remains in custody and is due to appear at Tameside Magistrates’ Court on Friday 28 July 2017.
