A murderer who was serving a minimum of 30 years in prison is on the run after escaping during an escorted hospital visit in Liverpool.

Detectives investigating the escape of convicted murderer Shaun Walmsley have arrested a man in Liverpool. But Walmsley remains on the run after two armed men helped him escape prison officers on a visit to Aintree Hospital on Tuesday. This evening Merseyside police say a 25 year old man from Norris Green is being questioned on suspicion of perverting the course of justice. A 27-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, both from Norris Green, who were arrested yesterday for assisting an offender, have been released.
An escaped prisoner serving a 30-year term for murder could find himself £20,000 out of pocket after police put up a reward using his money.
The reward is made up of £20,000 of Walmsley's own money, which was seized following his conviction for the murder of Anthony Duffy.
