CCTV captures moment convicted murder escapes during hospital visit

A murderer who was serving a minimum of 30 years in prison is on the run after escaping during an escorted hospital visit in Liverpool.

Two men threatened prison officers with a gun and a knife as Shaun Walmsley escaped outside Aintree Hospital.

Convicted murderer escapes during hospital visit in Liverpool

A convicted murder is at large after escaping from custody while on a hospital visit in Liverpool.

Shaun Walmsley escaped outside Aintree Hospital while under the supervision of prison officers. Two other men threatened the guards with a gun and a knife before escaping with the 28-year-old in a gold coloured Volvo.

Walmsey had been servicing a 30-year sentence for the murder of Anthony Duffy in May 2014.

Walmsley is described as: white, 6ft tall and of slim build with dark brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing dark bottoms and a dark jacket.

The first man, who was believed to be armed with a gun, is described as having his face covered and he was wearing white shoes, grey tracksuit bottoms with a stripe down each side, a grey hoody and a dark coat. The second man, who was believed to be armed with a knife, is described as having his face covered and he was wearing a green coat, dark Nike trainers and grey tracksuit bottoms.

Merseyside Police say patrols have been increased in the area and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
