Police investigating the second murder in as many days in Aigburth in Liverpool have released a statement. It comes just hours after a man was stabbed to death on Aigburth Road in the area.
On Monday night 30-year-old Blake Brown was shot dead on Southwood Road. Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Assistant Chief Constable Nikki Holland said:
Looking after our communities is a top priority for Merseyside Police.
I understand that people living and working in Aigburth will be concerned about two very serious incidents happening in such a close proximity in such a short space of time but I want to reassure people that these incidents are not linked and we are doing everything we can to investigate the full circumstances around what happened.
In relation to the incident on Aigburth Road this afternoon the man who died has yet to be formally identified and a post mortem will take place tomorrow to establish a cause of death.
Investigations into both incidents are ongoing and I would like to take this opportunity to ask anyone who has any information which could assist our officers to contact us on 101 or the Crimestoppers line anonymously on 0800 555 111.
