Christmas flooding: December storms bring misery to North West

Communities across the North West have been hit severe flooding over Christmas and the New Year after a series of December storms wreaked havoc on the country. The Army and an RAF chinook have helped avert disaster in the Lancashire village of Croston where three severe flood warnings were in place.

Residents and businesses in an area badly affected by flooding say they're working hard to rebuild their lives. Whalley in Lancashire was flooded after the downpours on Boxing Day last year. People are still counting the cost after the water caused damage to a many homes and commercial properties.
