Steve Cook, from Liverpool, disappeared while holidaying with school friends in the Greek resort of Malia, Crete, 10 years ago this August.
Cheshire Police is reviewing the case because a new detective inspector, who was involved in the original search for Steve, is being put in charge of the investigation.
Steve's details have also now been added to the Interpol missing persons list.
