Liverpool MP Stephen Twigg sacked from Shadow Cabinet
Liverpool MP Stephen Twigg has lost his job as Shadow Education Secretary as part of an opposition party reshuffle.
The West Derby MP has long been rumoured to be at odds with the Labour leadership over the party's policy on free schools and academies.
The Prime Minister last week mocked Stephen Twigg during his keynote speech at the Tory Party Conference in Manchester, accusing him of criticising free schools in public but then backing them in his Liverpool constituency, with Mr Twigg describing the Everton Free School as 'inspiring'.
He is one of two high-profile 'Blairites' to be removed from Ed Miliband's shadow cabinet, with Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary Ed Byrne sacked as part of a front bench shakeup.
