1987: November 22 - Born Etterbeek, Belgium.

2004: Signs for Standard Liege, at the age of 17.

2006: Makes debut as a substitute against Charleroi.

2007: February - Makes senior Belgium debut.

June - Scores first senior goal, in Belgium's Euro 2008 qualifier against Portugal.

2008: August - Plays for Belgium at the Olympics, but is sent off along with Vincent Kompany in first game against Brazil.

September - Signs for Everton in a deal worth more than £12million.

2009: May - After a difficult start - picking up 10 bookings in his first 17 games - is named Everton's Young Player of the Year.
