Generator fumes caused boat deaths

A mother and her 10-year-old daughter died after being poisoned by carbon monoxide fumes as they slept on a moored boat on Windermere, according to the initial findings of a marine accident investigation.

Investigations continue into Windermere boat deaths

A mother and daughter who died from suspected "gas poisoning" on a boat in the Lake District have been named as 36-year-old Kelly Webster and 10-year-old Lauren Thornton.

A man who was also on the boat was taken to hospital, but has been released in the last couple of hours.

Investigators are trying to establish if a faulty generator may have been responsible.
