The London 2012 Olympics are upon us and among Team GB are more than 75 athletes from the North West.

Gymnast Daniel Purvis was the first North West athlete to make it on to the podium in the London 2012 Olympics.
He helped Great Britain win a bronze, their first Olympic medal in the men's team gymnastics event in a century.
