Controversial plans to downgrade Trafford General Hospital's accident and emergency unit go out to consultation today. It's proposed that it becomes an urgent care centre with shorter opening hours.
9000 sign petition against closure of Trafford General's A&E department
Over 9000 people have signed a petition calling for the A & E department at Trafford General Hospital to be saved. Petition organisers say it is the largest petition ever gathered in Trafford. NHS managers say the hospital's A&E department is too small to be cost-effective and want to close it.
