Dam collapse: Whaley Bridge evacuated amid 'unprecedented' emergency
Hundreds of evacuated residents face an anxious wait to see if the damaged Toddbrook Reservoir dam wall holds strong, with emergency services also hoping heavy rain subsides.
Police have described the emergency situation as "unprecedented and "fast-moving", with over 2,000 households at risk.
Work has been ongoing since Thursday to try to shore up the damaged dam wall and carry out emergency repairs. Inspections will be carried out as soon as the reservoir water level has been lowered enough.
