The North West marks the 75th anniversary of D-Day

North West veterans were in France today, where a number of special services have been held. Paul Crone joined them at Pegasus Bridge.

24 year old Staff Sergeant Jim Wallwork from Salford piloted the first glider to land in Normandy on D-Day.

95 year old Bob Stoodley from High Peak was one the first ten men to land in France on D-Day.

The group stood on the deck of the MV Boudicca after it docked in Dunkirk.

George Simms only had a beret for head protecting as he and his fellow Royal Marines landed on the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944.

Denis Rose, 93, is from West Kirby. Jack Cunnane, from Bury, is 95. Both men played vital roles on D-Day - the 6th of June 1944.

To mark the 75th anniversary of D-Day, a specially commissioned ship is transporting veterans to France and across the English coast.

"I was as frightened going into battle on the last day as I was on the very first day."
