Crews battling another large moor fire on Rivington Pike

Another large fire has broken out on Winter Hill in Lancashire.

Crews from Lancashire and Greater Manchester were called to fight the blaze, which Lancashire Fire say is being spread by the windy conditions.

A huge thank you concert is being held to say thank you to the firefighters and Mountain Rescue teams who fought the Winter Hill fire. Emergency workers spent more than a month tackling the blaze which burnt across seven square miles of moorland

It will be the first concert of this magnitude to be held on the Great Lawn in the Rivington Terraced Gardens.

Man arrested as bomb disposal team search Liverpool flats

A block of flats has been evacuated by Merseyside police as bomb disposal experts launched a search in Liverpool. A 52 year old man has been detained on suspicion of firearms offences as part of the operation on Beechwood Road south in Aigburth. The force says officers remain at the scene.

A man from Wigan has been released by police investigating the moorland blaze at Winter Hill near Bolton. He was being held on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. A Lancashire Police spokesman said the investigation is continuing.

Firefighters who have been tackling a huge fire on moorland near Bolton say they're confident it is under control.

Around three square miles of Winter Hill has been scorched, since dry grassland was deliberately set alight over a week ago.

Walkers have been warned to stay away from the area while up to 20 crews from all over the country work to stop any further spread.

Firefighters tackling the moorland fire at Winter Hill near Bolton have created a no-go zone to encourage people to stay away.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said it's concerned people are going to the site after a used disposable barbecue was found on unburnt land nearby.

The exclusion zone covers three square miles.
